No one is expected to live a life without computers; we all need them and are use to them being a part of our daily lives. But we need to respect our eyes and listen to our bodies and and take a break when needed.

Listen to your body; and it will be obvious when you need a break. You should learn to recognise the early signs and take a break before your eyes burn. Just take a few minutes out of every hour for a rest. This means just getting up and walking around once an hour. However, taking breaks isn’t enough. You should look away from the screen for a couple of minutes in every 20. Look around your room so that your eyes are focusing on things at different distances. It is important to aviod straining your eyes in order to maintain your good vision without glasses.

Blink as often as you can to keep the eyes lubricated. Roll you eyes around every now and again; this can be done with your eyes closed if you prefer. Opening and closing your eyes is as good as a break. Yawning’s good too. Yawning release tention in the muscles and so can help to stop you from getting headaches.

Move around as much as possible. You should always be in a comfortable position so adjust your body or chair as often as needed. Move the keyboard or monitor so you aren’t stretching your neck or looking at things at a strange angle. You should make sure that there isn’t any glare on your screen.

Your work area should be well lit and bright. Lighting can also affect your mood so keep it bright and sunny. Poor lighting can make you feel depressed and sluggish. Making minor changes in the work space and taking breaks often can keep long hours in front of the computer from permanently damaging the eyes. Your eyes are precious and you want to maintain your 20/20 vision without glasses so look after them.
